Following two days of meetings, each side characterized the talks thusly:
NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly termed the meetings as productive and was pleased with “the level of engagement.” Without going into details, he said a number of important issues were raised and will be more thoroughly discussed later.
NHLPA Executive Director Don Fehr said the union looks forward to resuming talks next week. Fehr added that eight players and three owners attended the sessions.
Touch wood as these types of negotiations can quickly turn into a “your mama” flame fest at any time.
