Viktor Fasth earned the first star in his first NHL game. Out dueling Pekka Rinne in his first start will raise eyebrows around the NHL. Fasth will definitely push Jonas Hiller if not challenge for the #1 job. He’s that good.

Dan Winnick first Duck ever to score 5 goals in first 4 games of a season. Considering the all time great Ducks that’s quite a feat.

Props to Coach for shuffling the lines late in the second period.

Ducks held their composure tonight. Coach said, “The guys showed confidence and character against one of the league’s hardest working teams.”

Ducks play remains very uneven. They just aren’t executing. The rust is evident. PK is challenged and probably should be given the new additions.

Brad Staubitz played tonight. He was game but couldn’t  find a dance partner among the Predators.

Bobby Ryan broke the schnied and got his first goal of the season. His tip-in of Cam Fowler’s wrister was also our Ducks first goal at home this season.

Ducks continue to show dominance even strength. Our guys earned a distinct territorial advantage in play, especially in the last half of the third.

Next up, the red hot 4-0 San Jose Sharks Tuesday night.

It was not pretty. The passing was not good, people often lost control of the puck, a few times it looked like all of our players were behind the net in the offensive zone. The new big D – IMO are not very effective yet, B. Allen caused me visions of Andy Sutton – more than once.
Coaches have a big job ahead of them. One real positive for me was the lack of stupid penalties.

As bc said, BB did the right thing when he changed up the lines. Second line had no chemistry, but it was sad to see him break up the 3rd line. I liked Winnick on the top line, for now it seems he’s a good fit where ever he plays. If I remember correctly – in 3rd period the skilled forwards were pretty much spread between just lines 1 & 2. That doesn’t seem to fit coaches goal of keeping the top line fresh.
Bonino, Palmeri, Rakell & DSP all need to improve before we’ll have 4 good lines

Fasth – looked jumpy in goal at times but I think that will go away now that he has his first NHL game & win “in the books”. I like him – good size and seems to have good lateral movement.

Overall – Ugly but until the stats guys start using that as a criteria to reduce points in the standings – we’ll take it.

This game was not our best, but we did the best we could with what we have. Our defense continues to look sluggish and we appear to only be suiting up two lines. However, there is hope in this victory. We rebounded from an embarrassing loss to Vancouver. We controlled our emotion. We finally beat Nashville and Trotz, Finally! Fasth gave our team a chance…he gives me hope. San Jose will be a good measuring stick of what this team is capable of.

As for Getz, glad he has picked up his game and has refrained from passing to no one. Perhaps it’s a contract year, LOL! IMO every year should be a contract year…you just work harder.

Gabby is doing a great job with the team barstool has given him…

Good comments bb and you. Thought -provoking observations. I have read it with a lot of interest, and the same applies to bc’s post.
    Thanks.
